As we consider Jesus as the object of our faith, we realize that his death also serves as the pattern for our lives. The gospel pattern is living by dying! Like "a grain of wheat that falls into the earth and dies" (John 12:24), we also must die to self if we desire to grow and bear fruit in our lives.
